Najad 440 AC : Mini Review
Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase

Sep 13, 2007
By Jeremy McGeary (More articles by this author)

This is an aft cockpit version of the boat Najad also builds as a center cockpit, and it's nicely proportioned in the style favored in the neighborhood in Sweden where it's built. That Najad leans a little more to the performance side than some of its neighbors is evident in the big spade rudder mounted well aft and the upright-looking keel, both features favored by the Judel/Vrolijk design team. The 440 AC's big-boat ambitions are reflected in the 24-volt electrical system and the generous sail plan.

A fixed windshield enhances the boat's determined appearance and keeps spray at bay. Twin steering stations, now the norm in boats of this size range, give designer and crew more options in the cockpit as well as in the aft cabins beneath it.
