Are you looking to get together with other cruisers in the Chesapeake Bay? Last year over 350 people attended the Seven Seas Cruising Association’s Annapolis Gam. Some come by boat and some by car, but they all come for the great camaraderie and seminars that SSCA gams are famous for. The 26th annual Annapolis Gam will be held on Sept. 28-30 at Camp Letts, just south of Annapolis on the Rhodes River.
There’s a large, protected anchorage and the 2,600 acre wooded peninsula offers plenty of room to stretch your legs while you’re ashore. Enjoy shower facilities if you come by boat; hotel info and driving directions will be posted on the SSCA website, www.ssca.org. The event is open to everyone with an interest in cruising; you don’t have to be an SSCA member to attend.
Your $25 (SSCA member) or $40 (non-member) registration fee (if received by Sept. 19; slightly higher after that date) includes three days of fun and education. You’ll enjoy seminars on a variety of topics of interest to cruisers, multiple vendors and a nautical flea market. Non-members who join SSCA at the Gam will have the $15 differential applied to their first year SSCA dues, which start at just $55.
Our theme this year is self-reliance and speakers will include Nigel Calder, Claiborne Young, Herb Hilgenberg, Lin and Larry Pardey and others.
Join us on the Dining Hall Veranda Friday Evening for a potluck and cocktail party. Doyle Chesapeake and Annapolis Harbor Marine will supply the libations, but we ask that all attendees bring an appetizer or munchie to share.
On Saturday evening Chardonnay Boatworks will again be sponsoring a Happy Hour prior to a dinner catered by Red Hot N Blue. Nigel Calder will speak after dinner The drawing of raffle prizes and a gala auction will culminate the evening. Though a limited amount of dinner tickets may be available at the door, attendees are strongly urged to purchase them in advance, as we expect, with this year’s stellar speaker lineup, to sell out early.
Sunday morning will feature a flea market where you can buy or sell your marine gear. Roundtable discussions and demos will follow breakfast (breakfast is optional by advance reservation).

Seven Seas Cruising Association is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year! It’s the largest non-profit organization of voyaging cruisers in the world.
