Some of the best times on the water occur after the serious sailing is done for the day. When the big boat’s on the hook, the little boats come out to play. Whether by dingy, windsurfer, or kayak, exploring the anchorage via small boat is a great way to push the limits without suffering the consequences. Run aground? Big deal, get out and push. Fall overboard? Climb back on. When there’s less at stake, there’s more fun to be had.
How do you enjoy yourself at anchor? Do you zip around the mooring field in the inflatable, or sit back in the cockpit strumming a six-string? Anybody for a snorkel? Whatever you do to while away the hours while the sails are furled, we want to see it. Upload videos of your at-anchor shenanigans to the “Explore Your Anchorage” video contest gallery by August 31 for a chance to win an Airis kayak, courtesy of Walker Bay.
Walker Bay’s Airis inflatable kayaks are designed for portability, stability, and ease of use. AirWeb construction allows for maximum air pressure, giving the kayaks superior rigidity. The Play 8 model, intended for everything from calm harbors to raging rivers, features a bow keel and rear skeg to help it track through the water. Inflate the boat with the included air pump; deflate it and stuff it in the AirPack backpack for portaging.
