2019 marks the 50th anniversary of The Moorings, the world’s premier yacht charter company. Born from nothing but an immense passion for sailing and a slim fleet of six 35-foot Pearson yachts, The Moorings would not be the world-leading charter company it is today if it weren’t for the deeply-rooted values that founders, Charlie and Ginny Cary, established five decades ago.
In July of 1969, The Moorings began their operations in Tortola, British Virgin Islands on the site where the marina in Road Town still stands today. Rapidly expanding operations throughout the Caribbean, to exotic destinations like Tonga and Tahiti, and in the late 80s to the Mediterranean, The Moorings now offers charters in more than 20 destinations worldwide.
Sailing catamarans soon joined the monohulls and later power catamarans were added to the fleet, which now boasts more than 400 yachts globally. Through continuous product development and a strong partnership with boat builders Beneteau and Robertson & Caine, The Moorings strives to continuously offer their customers top of the line charter yachts; many of which have won the prestigious “Boat of the Year” awards by Cruising World Magazine.
Whether guests are interested in the freedom of a sail-it-yourself bareboat yacht, the all-inclusive luxury of a crewed yacht with captain and chef, or the speed and convenience of an innovative power catamaran, The Moorings is proud to offer premier quality yacht charters all around the world catered to the unique needs of the individual traveler.
