In the Discovery 67, due to be launched in early 2009, Discovery Yachts takes the well received features of the award-winning Discovery 55 and writes them large, stepping into semi-custom territory currently occupied by only a small number of builders.
The rig has outer and inner forestays. A blade jib on the inner will handle most upwind work, and a large genoa on the outer stay ensures the necessary power is available when sailing free.
The center-cockpit configuration effectively partitions off a large part of the accommodations for the owner’s suite aft. A passageway, to starboard, leads to the saloon, where the elevated dining area takes advantage of the vistas offered by the deckhouse windows. The galley occupies low, secure quarters to port of the cockpit and the nav desk is large enough to double as the ship’s office. Guest and/or crew accommodations can be modified to suit an owner’s needs and preferences.
