In the 540e, Hanse pursues its idiosyncratic mix that’s all business when it comes to sailing and upscale seaside holiday apartment when it comes to the accommodations below and the comforts on deck.
Company founder Michael Schmidt insists that boats with the Hanse name sail well and efficiently. Designers Judel/Vrolijk ensure they do, and lay out the deck gear to make sailing the boat easy. The anchor and its roller support retract to stow under the foredeck, to be deployed at the touch of a button when the occasion demands. The jib is self-tacking, so the helmsman can go about his business while others in the crew sit back. Flush hatches smooth out the already crisp lines of the superstructure.
Belowdecks, the arrangement is “owner’s choice” from a variety of modules that fit between set bulkhead locations to allow many permutations. The modern-style joiner components are available in several choices of wood finish.
