Miami boat show 2013
The five-day-long Miami International Boat Show kicks off Thursday February 14th, 2013, and runs through Monday’s President’s Day Holiday. It’s a whopper of a show, spread over multiple venues, including the Miami Beach Convention Center and the Miamarina at Bayside, in downtown Miami, where the Strictly Sail Miami is held.
New sailboats being introduced to North America include the Beneteau Oceanis 55, Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 469, Lagoon 39, Lagoon 4052, Lagoon 52, Leopard 58, Majestic 530, Nautitech 542, Saturn 47, and Tartan 4700.
I’ll be walking the docks during the show, so look for updates at www.crusingworld.com. If you’re planning to attend the show, you’ll also find other new models from builders such as Bavaria, Catalina, Delphia, Fountaine Pajot, Gemini, Gunboat, Hallberg-Rassy, Hunter, Hylas, the Moorings and Sunsail, Oyster, Seaward, and Vintage. You can find a complete listing of sailboats at
Over at the Convention Center, a number of electronics manufacturers will be debuting new product lineups. There will be announcements from all the major players, such as B&G, Furuno, Garmin, Lowrance, Raymarine, and Simrad, as well as electronic chart suppliers and other gear manufacturers. Frequent CW contributor Tony Bessigner will scour the Electronics Room at the show for new gadgets and will be posting updates, which you can also find at www.cruisingworld.com.
All told, power and sail, some 2,000 companies will be showcasing more than 3,000 new models at this year’s show, which is expected to attract in excess of 100,000 attendees.
