Although well canvased with a composite, high-roach main on a fractional rig, it makes no pretense of being a complex or competitive racer, as witnessed by the simplified tiller helm station, traveler-free mainsheet, and self-tacking jib. However, due to its lean lines, ultralight displacement, and deep appendages, the 9M is close-winded, quick, responsive, and enormously fun to sail. The cored hull, infused vinylester with carbon-fiber reinforcements, reflects the latest in building materials and techniques.
