RTW Day 217: N. Pacific: Passing 200n.ml W of Johnston Atoll
Had just finished spending a long time clearing up a major spillage of detergent powder when realized wind was up – we were bouncing around and heeling a lot.
Had just finished spending a long time clearing up a major spillage of detergent powder when realized wind was up – we were bouncing around and heeling a lot.
The galley stove has come off its gimbal on one side.
I opened a nice bottle of bubbly and had some Brie and pate on crackers.
I am writing this singing along to music playing – getting into the equator crossing party mode already – expect to cross the line tonight.
Bad news of last night-dropped laptop and broke the screen-remote monitor also damaged.
Thursday 9th May 2013 Across the Date Line! Back into Wednesday…. GMT – 12hr, instead of GMT + 12hr
Generator is back in action!
Just went up on deck – and disturbed a tiny gaily-coloured bird – a goldfinch. One of a pair, it turned out… they investigated all around on deck and in the rigging… and finally chose the protection of a fold of the mainsail near the mast for their overnight roosting place as the sun was setting.
Celebrated six months at sea with nice meal last night— tasty, tender lamb shank (lower half of leg of lamb) with oodles of gravy and potatoes and peas – a Sunday dinner one day delyed!
Jeanne Socrates encounters genoa trouble while sailing around the world.
Sunset… A magnificent Salvin’s albatross just settled on the water for a rest, having been circling nearby on fixed wings for a long time as I watched it from the companionway – I took the chance to finish my waiting mug of tea!
Jeanne Socrates fixes her windvane steering while sailing around the world.
