For years, women sailors have been an important part of the cruising community, and we’re not just tagging along after our male counterparts.

A number of factors have caused the boating industry to recognize women as a powerful segment of the market. According to the latest U.S. Census, women now make up 51% of the population, the majority of the buying audience the marine industry wants to access. Women have more and more influence on family buying decisions, and it’s not just the old adage, “If Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.” Women bring valuable perspectives on how their families function and what their families need to be safe, comfortable, and happy.

One way to share these perspectives is to participate in a Women on the Water (WOW) event. At the WOW booth, you’ll find a home for your opinions, and the feedback you share will be fed directly to specific companies that want to hear what you have to say. Several female-focused activities occur only on WOW days at the boat shows, and WOW events can serve as learning and networking opportunities as well.
